Welcome to
Little Acorns
Evershot
Facilitating learning through play and exploration
A rural school in the heart of Dorset,
shaping young minds for two decades.
Little Acorns is a small rural setting. It has been running in Evershot village hall for over 21 years.
Our children love to get out and about. We have a large, private garden where they can play, and have a free flow system, (unless the weather is very poor). Children can choose to play indoors or out, and we have wellies and waterproofs available for all children to ensure that they are warm and dry in their play.
We go out into the village regularly, visiting the school, the shop, the church, the post box and the beautiful deer park which is right on our doorstep. We are passionate about books and story telling so we try to make good use of our story area both inside and out. We encourage the children to be creative and curious. They enjoy their freedom to explore their space and natural environment.
We offer regular Forest school sessions with Sticklands school, these are currently taking place on Wednesday afternoons. Little Acorns is what is known as a ‘pack away’ setting. This means we sometimes need to clear the hall completely for a party, or for a band to play at the weekend.
Our term dates are the same as Stickland’s School. You can find the up to date calendar here.

3 year old funding
All children are eligible for 15 hours of free childcare from the term after their third birthday. Little Acorns can apply for this for you, as long as you give your consent.
Some families are eligible for 30 hours of funded childcare. You need to apply for this yourself online with a Government gateway account which you can do here. It is quite straightforward to do, and you will get an instant decision. Please check this link to see if you are eligible, or ask a member of the team.
Due to our capacity and current waiting list, we may not be able to offer spaces to cover all your child’s funding.
Additional costs
Little Acorns charges for consumables. List is provided on request but will be published on this page late 2025. Our consumable charges are optional to all parents.
We are fortunate that the majority of our parents opt in to a charitable donation. These donations help us to enhance all the children’s early education and care with being provided activities, experiences and tailored care going above EYFS requirements.
Term times
Little Acorns follows the same calendar as Sticklands school. Our term dates are the same, and the setting is closed if Sticklands school has a training day.
For up to date term dates please check the Sticklands calendar here.
